So, I have tried to knit in the past and sucked at it. Well, okay, maybe not sucked at it, but I felt terrible about all my knitting. I lived with a gal who worked at a knitting shop and made fun of my very first scarf. She wasn't very nice to me and we parted ways in a less than friendly manner. After that I quit knitting for a year or so. I never even finished the project. I eventually pulled it all out. Maybe, the yarn can be used in my artwork, you know.
Luckily, because of my friends, I picked up knitting again. And this time I was surrounded by sweet gals who were willing to help me. I pulled out my yarn and started a scarf. Because of my friends I discovered my struggle was mainly with my yarn. It was a beautiful combination of brilliant rainbow colors and a knotty moss green. I will end up using it one day as a hat or something pretty. I like the yarn too much to give up on it.
So now, here I am, committed to a pretty dusty pink color, and making the Old Shale Scarf pattern. Because of my previous knitting I had mastered the basic knit concept, and was able to quickly pick up the purl. This of course led to me quickly learning the knit 2 together and yarn over techniques. I am by no means a master of knitting, but I see this quickly becoming yet another art form that will suck my wallet dry.
